In a significant step towards combating addiction, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, on Tuesday, presided over a review meeting to discuss the construction of a state-of-the-art de-addiction and rehabilitation center in the Sirmaur district.
The facility, proposed at Kotla-Barog, is designed to accommodate 100 beds and will feature amenities including a library, gymnasium, sports facilities, and opportunities for skill and vocational training. The center will be overseen by a dedicated team of medical professionals, including doctors and nurses, to ensure comprehensive care.
An official statement revealed that the government has earmarked Rs. 534.36 lakh for this ambitious project, with a pledge of additional funding if necessary. In a virtual meeting with the Deputy Commissioners of Solan and Sirmaur, the Chief Minister instructed the transfer of land from the Animal Husbandry Department to the Social Justice & Empowerment Department for the center's establishment.
