Seeds of Hope: Rebuilding Latur's Farming Future

An NGO, established by actors Nana Patekar and Makarand Anaspure, is offering critical assistance to distressed farmers in the Latur district of Maharashtra, distributing 2,000 bags of gram and sorghum seeds. This initiative targets families affected by the August and September rains which inflicted significant crop damage, especially near riverbanks.

Inaugurated in Dhanegaon village, the distribution drive was overseen by tehsildar Sanjay Biradar. The NGO, Naam Foundation, stated its ongoing commitment to aid the families of farmers who have committed suicide and those whose lands were devastated by the flooding.

The foundation's coordinator, Ramling Shere, emphasized their dedication to helping farmers adapt to changing climate conditions by transitioning from traditional crops to more sustainable options like sugarcane and horticulture, continuing efforts to rebuild the livelihoods of Marathwada's farmers.
