The Indian Navy is set to enhance its maritime capabilities as it commissions 'Ikshak', a cutting-edge Survey Vessel (Large) renowned for its dual-role capability. Designed for hydrographic survey operations, the vessel doubles as a humanitarian assistance and disaster relief platform, and a hospital ship during emergencies.
Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi will oversee the commissioning ceremony at Kochi's Naval Base on November 6. As the third vessel in the SVL class, 'Ikshak' embodies the Navy's commitment to delivering state-of-the-art naval technology.
Crafted by the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers in Kolkata, 'Ikshak' stands as a beacon of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', featuring over 80% indigenous content. This achievement showcases the successful synergy between Indian MSMEs and GRSE, heralding a new era of self-reliance in India's naval construction capabilities.
