Russian Drone Strikes Escalate Tensions in Ukraine's Railway Hubs
A railway hub near Kyiv was damaged in a Russian drone and missile attack, part of intensified strikes on Ukraine's infrastructure, including energy and railway sectors. Despite the attacks, Ukrainian forces were able to intercept many drones and missiles. Poland heightened its alert but reported no airspace violations.
A regional railway depot near Kyiv fell victim to a significant Russian drone and missile barrage damaging several railway carriages, according to Ukrainian state railway company Ukrzaliznytsia. No casualties were reported in the attack on Fastiv town despite extensive destruction.
Intensified Russian strikes target Ukraine's infrastructure, with power stations and railway hubs being frequent targets. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha criticized Russia for dismissing peace efforts in favor of attacks on vital civilian setups.
The Ukrainian military reported a heavy salvo of 653 drones and 51 missiles by Russia, of which 585 drones and 30 missiles were successfully intercepted. Meanwhile, Poland heightened air response measures amid rising concerns over regional security.
