Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group, recently highlighted the critical need for India to assert control over its natural resources to ensure sovereignty and economic independence. Speaking at the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) in Dhanbad, Adani addressed global fracturing and the resulting national self-preservation trends.
Stressing the significance of energy self-reliance, Adani termed the situation as India's 'second freedom struggle,' advocating for development independent of international pressures. He criticized global ESG frameworks for failing to account for India's low per-capita emissions and highlighted the nation's achievement of over 50 percent non-fossil power capacity.
Adani referred to the resistance faced by the Adani Group's Carmichael coal mine in Australia, emphasizing its role in enhancing India's energy security. He encouraged IIT students to pursue innovation and self-reliance, while also announcing new internship opportunities and a mining excellence center to foster expertise in natural resource management.
