The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday launched a stinging critique of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) following chaotic scenes at a highly-anticipated event featuring soccer superstar Lionel Messi at Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium. Ghosh, speaking to ANI from West Medinipur, asserted that the current disorder in Kolkata and wider West Bengal was attributable to the ruling party.
Accusing the TMC of allowing 'anti-social and anti-national elements' to infiltrate their ranks, Ghosh declared that the incident had sullied the state's reputation. He contended that the TMC's leadership is solely motivated by profit, suggesting their politics taint even prestigious international events, causing public embarrassment.
As tensions simmer, Leader of the Opposition and Nandigram MLA Suvendu Adhikari has approached the Calcutta High Court, questioning the arrest of spectators and alleging governmental mismanagement. In New Delhi, Messi's GOAT India Tour 2025 concluded peacefully after earlier disruptions in Kolkata.
