Sudan Crisis Tops List of Overlooked Humanitarian Emergencies in 2025
The ongoing crisis in Sudan has been named the most neglected humanitarian emergency of 2025, amidst severe violence and mass displacement. Despite being the world's biggest humanitarian crisis, aid and media coverage remain insufficient, mirroring a troubling global trend of overlooked conflicts.
In a striking revelation, the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Sudan has been identified as the most neglected global crisis of 2025. Despite the alarming situation, which has already displaced 12 million people, aid resources and international attention remain woefully inadequate.
The scale of the disaster, highlighted by a third of respondents in a Thomson Reuters Foundation poll involving 22 leading aid organizations, surpasses the conflicts of the Democratic Republic of Congo, labelled as a 'hellscape for women,' and other crises in Myanmar and Afghanistan.
Humanitarian leaders have voiced grave concerns over the lack of funding and international responsiveness, with the United Nations' appeal for $4.16 billion only a third funded. The magnitude of the crisis is further exacerbated by bureaucratic and logistical hurdles faced by aid agencies on the ground.
