IMF Chief Kristalina Georgieva arrived in a snow-covered Kyiv on Thursday, visiting pivotal Ukrainian energy structures damaged by Russian strikes. The visit marks the nearly four-year anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion.
Georgieva met with Central Bank Chief Andriy Pyshnyi and other top officials, paying respects at a memorial for fallen Ukrainian soldiers. Her agenda included strategic discussions with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and business executives.
The IMF and Ukraine are finalizing an $8.1 billion lending program, crucial for bridging Ukraine's financial gaps exacerbated by the war. Georgieva emphasized understanding Ukraine's priorities to galvanize coordinated financial support from the global community.
