Air India and Singapore Airlines have entered into an expansive commercial cooperation framework, laying the groundwork for intensified joint business agreements. This move strengthens their enduring partnership and creates new avenues for improved connectivity between Singapore and India, offering enhanced options and benefits for travelers.
Subject to regulatory consent, the airlines plan to broaden their services, ensuring seamless flight connections and more route choices under a unified travel experience. This collaboration aims to synchronize flight schedules for customer convenience and may also extend to cross-participation in corporate travel programs, enriching business traveler benefits. Enhancements to frequent flyer privileges for Air India's Maharaja Club and SIA's KrisFlyer members are envisaged beyond current Star Alliance benefits.
While additional details are awaited as plans solidify, both airlines are poised to explore further cooperation in specific markets, aligning with regulatory permissions. This advancement seeks to satisfy increasing global connectivity demands, bolster traffic through their hub airports, and fortify aviation markets in both India and Singapore.
Currently, their codeshare encompasses 61 points across 20 regions, expanded in October 2024 to include 51 more destinations. Air India's CEO, Campbell Wilson, emphasizes the strategic value of this partnership with Singapore Airlines, reinforcing Air India's growth via fleet expansion and commercial collaborations within the Star Alliance network, aiming for sustainable value creation.
Singapore Airlines' CEO, Goh Choon Phong, called the agreement a natural progression of their successful alliance, promising substantial value, enhanced customer benefits, bolstered connectivity, and strengthened ties between Singapore and India.
