The Uttar Pradesh government is set to launch livestock medicine centres in every block of the state, aimed at ensuring the availability of ethnomedicine for animals, as announced by Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Dharampal Singh on Tuesday.
Speaking at Tilak Hall in the Vidhan Bhavan, Singh highlighted the importance of indigenous cattle, describing their milk as 'nectar.' He urged cow rearers not to abandon their animals, even if they cease milk production, emphasizing the government's focus on enhancing indigenous cattle breeds and controlling infectious animal diseases.
In addition, veterinary services are to be developed via public-private partnerships, with new fodder policies providing free seeds to farmers. The substantial budget increase from Rs 1,37,423.53 lakh in 2017-18 to Rs 4,11,529.86 lakh for 2024-25 signifies the government's commitment to improving livestock rearers' economic conditions and advancing its vision for a 'Developed Uttar Pradesh - Capable Uttar Pradesh 2047.'
