The European Union has confirmed that its member states maintain sufficient oil and gas reserves despite the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, which have disrupted supply chains. The EU Commission disclosed this update on Monday, emphasizing a greater concern over high energy prices rather than supply security.
According to Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, the EU Commission spokesperson, member states possess oil or oil equivalent stocks adequate for up to 90 days, indicating there is no immediate emergency. Itkonen further mentioned that the G7 countries were slated to discuss a possible release from their strategic reserves later in the day.
This dialogue underscores the EU's preparedness and strategic planning amid global uncertainties, signaling a coordinated international effort to manage energy resources and stabilize energy markets.
