The right-wing government of Italy, historically an ally of Israel in Europe, has recently voiced criticism over Israeli military actions in Lebanon, affecting Italian troops operating under a U.N. mandate in the area. Meloni, along with foreign and defence ministers Antonio Tajani and Guido Crosetto, and Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, made the decision on Monday. This suspension implies a halt in collaborative military training efforts with Israel. The Israeli foreign ministry has yet to comment on the situation.
