SAS Hikes Flight Costs Amid Iran Conflict-Induced Fuel Surge

Scandinavian airline SAS has temporarily increased its flight prices due to a significant rise in jet fuel costs. The surge in oil prices, triggered by the Iran conflict and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, led to this decision. SAS aims to maintain stable operations amidst fluctuating costs.

SAS has announced a temporary hike in flight prices owing to escalating jet fuel costs caused by the Iran conflict. The company stated that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has been a significant factor driving the surge in oil prices.

On Monday, crude oil prices soared to their highest level since mid-2022, with a dramatic increase of up to 29%, before eventually declining. In response, SAS implemented a temporary price adjustment to cope with the rapid increase in fuel costs.

A SAS spokesperson explained that while the airline usually tries to absorb such cost fluctuations, the current spike necessitates adjustments to ensure stable and reliable operations.
