In a charged exchange on Friday, Members of Parliament targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri over what they called a faltering approach to fuel security. Opposition leaders accused the government of foreign policy failures that have left citizens scrambling for essential energy sources.

Samajwadi Party's Dimple Yadav pointed out the struggles of everyday citizens, facing long queues for basic fuels such as LPG. Congress MP KC Venugopal lambasted the government for being out of touch, declaring, 'They are living in a dream world.' Meanwhile, RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha urged cooperation and acknowledgment of existing problems.

Amid these criticisms, Minister Puri assured Parliament on Thursday that India's energy imports remain robust, despite global disruptions due to West Asian conflicts affecting the Strait of Hormuz. Emphasizing India's diversification of import routes, he stated that non-Hormuz sources now supply 70% of crude imports, maintaining steady supply chains and retail stocks across the nation.
