PVUNL Achieves Milestone with Synchronisation of Second Super Critical Unit
The Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (PVUNL) synchronized its second 800 MW unit in Jharkhand, four months after the first unit's commissioning. This achievement highlights strong collaboration among PVUNL, BHEL, and others in constructing a 4,000 MW power project, mainly benefiting Jharkhand with 85% of the energy.
The Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (PVUNL), a subsidiary of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), has successfully synchronized its second 800 MW unit in Ramgarh, Jharkhand. The achievement comes four months after the commissioning of the first unit in November 2025, according to a senior official.
This second unit is part of the Super Critical Thermal Power Project in phase-1 construction, marking a significant milestone in the overall project. The project emphasizes teamwork, meticulous planning, and coordination among PVUNL, BHEL, and other stakeholders, as stated in a PVUNL release.
The ongoing project aims to establish a total output of 4,000 MW in two phases, with a promise that 85% of its generated power will benefit the state of Jharkhand, as per the memorandum of understanding with NTPC and the state government.
