Ukraine is preparing to significantly expand its rapeseed crop by up to 33% in response to escalating global fuel prices following intensified conflict in the Middle East. This increase in planting could see the nation cultivating 1.5 million hectares of rapeseed, according to the deputy economy minister.

Fuel prices have been on the rise since U.S.-Israeli military actions in Iran prompted regional instability. As a major European producer of rapeseed, Ukraine's potential expansion could stabilize supply in EU markets where rapeseed is crucial for both cooking oil and biodiesel production.

The deputy economy minister emphasized that while expanding rapeseed planting significantly within a single year poses challenges, the shift remains feasible. This expansion could produce an additional 1 million metric tons of rapeseed, aligning with future projections from agricultural consultancy APK-Inform.
