Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his latest 'Mann Ki Baat' address, praised local conservation efforts that have successfully revitalized wildlife across India. Modi highlighted initiatives such as 'Gaj Mitra' in Uttar Pradesh and the colorful 'Flamingo City' in Gujarat, demonstrating the power of community participation in environmental preservation.
The Prime Minister cited the flourishing elephant protection efforts in the Terai region, propelled by locals forming teams to prevent human-wildlife conflict. He also commended Karnataka for preserving over 700 native trees, underscoring the resurgence of blackbucks in Chhattisgarh and hopeful progress in safeguarding the endangered Great Indian Bustard.
Touching on economic impacts, Modi highlighted the Northeast's bamboo sector resurgence following legislative changes. He credited regional entrepreneurs for pushing innovation in bamboo products, urging citizens to support these crafts to further bolster the region's economic prosperity.
