Banks Urged to Adopt MuleHunter AI for Combating Cyber Fraud

Financial Services Secretary M Nagaraju urged banks to implement the MuleHunter AI tool by RBI to tackle financial cyber fraud involving mule accounts. Emphasizing Operation Octopus's insights, Nagaraju promoted collaboration among banks and law enforcement to enhance cyber fraud prevention and customer protection.

In a bid to combat financial cyber fraud, Financial Services Secretary M Nagaraju has urged banks nationwide to integrate the MuleHunter AI tool, developed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), into their systems at the earliest opportunity.

During a comprehensive meeting with senior law enforcement officials, RBI executives, and banking representatives, Nagaraju reviewed rising instances of digital financial fraud and the misuse of mule accounts by cybercriminals. He also advised the State Level Bankers' Committee to increase awareness initiatives and collaborate with state police authorities to combat these crimes.

Discussions during the meeting highlighted 'Operation Octopus' by Hyderabad Police as a learning opportunity, stressing enhanced coordination between banks and law enforcement. Real-time intelligence sharing and swift response mechanisms were underscored as vital strategies to detect and prevent such frauds effectively.
