Larsen & Toubro (L&T), a leading infrastructure company, announced on Tuesday that it has secured a major order valued between Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 5,000 crore. The contract involves developing a coal-to-ammonium nitrate project in Odisha, undertaken in collaboration with state-owned entities Coal India Limited and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited.

The project is poised to significantly enhance domestic production by generating 2,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate per day. This move aims to reduce India's import dependence, conserve foreign exchange, and fortify industrial capabilities within the energy and chemical sectors.

According to a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange, L&T Energy Hydrocarbon Onshore will carry out the project for Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Ltd (BCGCL). This encompasses the complete spectrum of work from basic design to final handover, marking a substantial leap for India's mining, infrastructure, and industrial sectors.
