In a significant development, the Patiala House Court has extended the judicial custody of six Ukrainian citizens and one US citizen for 30 days, citing their alleged involvement in supporting ethnic war groups in Myanmar. These individuals are accused of supplying weapons and training members linked to terrorist activities.

The court session was held in a closed environment, preventing Ukrainian and US embassy officials from attending due to the sensitive nature of the case. However, the diplomatic members were assured of consular access to their nationals, emphasizing adherence to procedural laws.

Represented through video conferencing from Tihar Jail, the accused—including US national Matthew Aaron Van Dyke—continue to face charges under Section 18 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Discussions in court are focused on their motives for visiting India and subsequent travel to Myanmar, with allegations of drone warfare training under scrutiny.
