In a bold statement at a press conference, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of manipulating elections and undermining democracy. He has described the vote-counting process in Hindi as not just 'matgarna' (counting votes) but 'mangarna' (demanding votes).
Yadav has called for the Supreme Court to ensure transparency by mandating a live telecast of the vote-counting process in West Bengal, questioning why such transparency exists for court proceedings but not for elections. He claims the outcomes are often predetermined by building narratives ahead of the process.
Highlighting past incidents, including the 2022 Chhibramau elections, Yadav alleges BJP employed central forces to manipulate results by removing Samajwadi Party workers from polling centers. These allegations come as Bengal undergoes significant political changes, following BJP's historic electoral victory.
