India-Vietnam Relations Soar to New Heights

President Droupadi Murmu highlighted Vietnam's critical role in India's strategic 'Act East' policy during her statement on Wednesday. Her remarks came as Vietnam's President To Lam began his first state visit to India, underscoring the two countries' expanding partnership.
Murmu stressed that India is eager to enhance trade relations with Vietnam in a balanced manner, while fortifying defence and security ties, which are pivotal to their bilateral relations. She assured India's commitment to a shared pursuit of regional peace and stability, rooted in historical and cultural connections.
With the upgraded comprehensive strategic partnership and a USD 25 billion annual trade target set for 2030, both countries aim to deepen collaborations in trade, defence, minerals, technology, and culture. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also engaged in discussions with President To Lam, focusing on navigating geopolitical challenges.
