A devastating incident occurred during a religious ceremony in Sangli district, Maharashtra, resulting in six fatalities and multiple injuries. Heavy rains and fierce winds forced attendees to take refuge at a nearby construction site.
Witnesses reported that the strong winds tore a large metal roof, causing it to crash into a stone wall which then collapsed onto the sheltered devotees. The accident occurred around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, leading to immediate casualties at the scene.
Local authorities, including the Sangli Superintendent of Police, confirmed the tragic toll, with 13 people sustaining injuries. The injured were promptly admitted to Jat Rural Hospital for treatment. Government officials have proposed compensation for the victims' families as investigations continue.
