Russia's Unyielding Assault: Kyiv and Cities Under Harsh Drone Attacks
Russia launched its most significant aerial offensive over Ukraine, with Kyiv bearing the brunt of the attack. Hundreds of drones and missiles were deployed, resulting in multiple casualties and significant infrastructure damage. Ukrainian and international officials emphasize the need for sustained support and pressure on Moscow to end the conflict.
In a devastating escalation, Russia has unleashed its largest aerial assault against Ukraine, particularly targeting the capital, Kyiv. The two-day blitz, comprising hundreds of drone strikes, has left at least 11 people dead and scores injured, according to Ukrainian officials.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reported that since Wednesday, Russia launched over 1,560 drones, with air defense intercepting many but not all. This wave of attacks, including strikes on the residential areas and vital infrastructure, further undermines hopes of a swift conclusion to the war initiated by Russia in February 2022.
Despite U.S.-backed peace efforts, Moscow's actions signal continued aggression. The attacks not only threaten critical services, with disruptions in electricity and water supplies across various cities, but also call for global attention and aid, as noted by international leaders.
