Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav launched a fierce critique against the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday, alleging the administration has developed a 'criminal apparatus' through orchestrated fake encounters.
At a press conference, Yadav accused the BJP government of exploiting police officers for political maneuvers, claiming they are abandoned after being implicated in encounter cases. Specifically citing the Gorakhpur encounter incident, he asserted that numerous officers were imprisoned as the government distanced itself from them.
Yadav condemned fake encounters as a breach of democratic norms and argued these actions are utilized to exert psychological pressure, particularly on backward classes, Dalits, and minorities. He warned that police personnel involved in such incidents may face lasting consequences.
