L&T Invests Rs 18,600 Crore in Major Tamil Nadu Projects
Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Tamil Nadu for three substantial projects, investing Rs 18,600 crore. This includes a data centre, electronics manufacturing, and shipbuilding expansion, generating approximately 8,200 jobs, in line with the state's $1.5 trillion economy vision by 2036.

On Thursday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister V Joseph Vijay witnessed a significant development as the state government inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T). This collaboration entails three ambitious projects with a total investment of Rs 18,600 crore, promising around 8,200 employment opportunities.
During discussions at the state Secretariat, the Chief Minister interacted with L&T Chairman and Managing Director SN Subrahmanyan, expressing appreciation for the company's ongoing investments that bolster Tamil Nadu's industrial growth. L&T's new ventures include projects in the data centre, electronics manufacturing, and shipbuilding sectors, reinforcing the state's status as an industrial hub.
The MoU details include a Data Centre Expansion Project in Kancheepuram district, requiring Rs 15,000 crore investment, expected to create 500 jobs. Additionally, an Electronics and Electronic Systems Manufacturing Project in Coimbatore will see a Rs 2,500 crore investment with 2,000 employment opportunities. The shipbuilding facility expansion in Kattupalli entails a Rs 1,100 crore investment, generating approximately 5,700 jobs.
