In a recent development, the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) re-evaluation portal faced a massive cyberattack involving about 3.8 million malicious packets. The attempt, aimed at disrupting the portal's services, was successfully mitigated by the board's security measures, officials from CBSE informed ANI.

The cyber onslaught, characterized by high-volume traffic similar to Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks, occurred shortly after the portal became operational on June 2. Security systems detected over 100,000 unauthorized access attempts within minutes of its activation. 'The security framework deployed proved effective in neutralizing the threat and ensured the portal's continuous functioning,' a CBSE official highlighted.

Concurrently, CBSE's Online Scanning Mechanism (OSM) project has come under scrutiny due to student complaints and discrepancies in results. The Ministry of Education initiated a review of the OSM's procurement and implementation, while a separate inquiry is led by S. Radha Chauhan of the Capacity Building Commission. In response, administrative changes and technical audits are underway to address systemic flaws.
