Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari convened on Monday to strategize on accelerating the state's developmental trajectory, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision.
The discussions centered on improving credit availability across sectors and implementing central government schemes. Sitharaman highlighted a coordinated saturation drive for flagship programs like Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana and PM SVANidhi, aiming to cover every eligible beneficiary in West Bengal.
Responding to Adhikari's request, Sitharaman announced plans for roundtable meetings with Public Sector Banks and industry bodies statewide to increase credit flow, thereby enhancing industrial development and job creation. She assured a review of the West Bengal Gramin Bank's performance and support for proposals under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme to boost the state's infrastructure.
