DD News anchor Neelum Sharma passes away; tributes pour in

DD News anchor Neelum Sharma has passed away. She was recently conferred with Nari Shakti Puraskar 2018 and had worked with DD News for over 20 years. She was known for programs like Badi Charcha, Tejasvini and has inspired thousands of journalists with her work on Doordarshan.

Neelum Sharma started her career with Doordarshan in the year 1995. It is being known that she was suffering from cancer.

It is considered that she played a key role in building DD News from scratch.

Tributes started pouring in as soon as the news of her demise broke out. Her sudden death has left many in shock and hundreds of people are tweeting to pay their respects to Neelum Sharma.

Anchor Neelum Sharma was awarded Nari Shakti Puraskar 2018, the highest civilian honor for women, on the occasion of International Women's Day by the president of India.
