Seventy first Session of WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia begins today

The Seventy-first Session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia Region commences today in New Delhi, India. The session is being attended by Health Ministers, representatives of all the 11 Member States of the Region, United Nations, and other agencies, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and civil society to discuss health issues in the region, home to one-fourth of the world's population.
"We as a sector cannot succeed alone: we need to build partnerships & force alliances. We cannot address the social, environmental and political determinants of ill health without allies," said Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director, WHO South-East Asia Region, at the inaugural session.
"India supports the Regional and Global health agenda and stands ready to work with fellow member states & the international community to achieve the common goal of Health for All," said JPNadda, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
