This decision has received the prior approval of the lieutenant governor of Delhi, according to official sources.

The department's order comes after directions issued by the high court, constituting a committee to look into extending the retirement age of doctors from 65 to 70 years. Key members include the principal secretary of services, the health and family welfare secretary, the director of the Directorate General of Health Services, the dean of Maulana Azad Medical College, and the MD of Lok Nayak Hospital.
