Union Health Minister Advocates Collective Effort for Women's Family Planning Rights
Union Health Minister J P Nadda emphasized the need for collective efforts by the Centre and states to ensure women can exercise their right to family planning without being burdened by unwanted pregnancies during a virtual event on World Population Day. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining low fertility rates and meeting contraceptive needs in high-burden areas.

Union Health Minister J P Nadda emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between the Centre and states to ensure that women have the right to make family planning decisions and are not burdened by unwanted pregnancies. He made these remarks while leading a discussion on the 'Healthy Timing and Spacing of Pregnancies for the Wellbeing of Mother and Child' at a virtual event marking World Population Day.
Nadda stressed the importance of maintaining low total fertility rates in states that have already achieved them, and continuing efforts to achieve these rates in other states. He underscored the accessibility of modern contraceptives and the necessity to meet unmet contraceptive needs, particularly in high-burden states, districts, and blocks.
The minister also unveiled a new set of Information Education Communication (IEC) materials focused on family planning and population control. He acknowledged the commitment and dedication of frontline health workers, noting that their efforts were crucial for the achievements in family planning and population control.
