Adequately spaced pregnancies can significantly improve maternal and child health outcomes, Union Minister Anupriya Patel stated on Friday. She emphasized that this approach reduces risks and empowers women to make informed choices about reproductive health.
The government's efforts have led to a reduction in maternal mortality from over 130 to 97 per lakh births, Patel noted, also highlighting state initiatives to involve men in family planning.
During a meeting with public health experts held to mark World Population Day, Patel underscored the government's commitment through programs like the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan and Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. She stressed the need for effective communication strategies to achieve a developed India by 2047.
