Kerala's health authorities have increased the number of individuals at risk for contracting Nipah virus to 350, following the death of a 14-year-old boy from Malappuram. Among them, 101 are categorized as high-risk, Health Minister Veena George confirmed on Monday.

Samples from 13 individuals are currently being analyzed at the Kozhikode Medical College virology laboratory and the Advanced Virology Institute in Thiruvananthapuram. Six of the sample holders exhibit symptoms, with three on the secondary contact list. The boy's parents, although asymptomatic, have had their samples tested to rule out any possibility of infection.

The health department has emphasized vigilance, releasing a detailed route map of the deceased boy's movements, urging people in contact with him to seek medical attention. A total of 224 fever surveillance teams are conducting house-to-house surveys, and health advisories have been issued to prevent further spread.
