USAID and Takeda Biopharmaceuticals India Private Limited have unveiled a campaign named 'Haarega Dengue Haraenge Hum' to raise awareness about dengue prevention amidst climate change challenges. Targeting areas in Maharashtra, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh, the initiative educates schoolchildren and communities on curbing the spread of vector-borne diseases.
The surge in temperature and rainfall due to climate change has resulted in a rise of vector-borne diseases, pressuring already strained health systems. The campaign aims to educate people on preventive measures and to strengthen the health system’s capability to tackle such infectious diseases.
Key figures like Warren Harrity of USAID and Yamashita Yuta from the Japanese Embassy stress the importance of global collaboration in combating dengue and improving public health resilience. The initiative forms part of USAID’s broader Sustainable Action for Climate and Health (SACH) Initiative.
