Rajat Khosla, Executive Director of the Partnership for Maternal Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH), underscores the dual moral and economic imperatives of investing in the health of women, children, and adolescents. According to Khosla, every dollar invested can yield returns ranging from USD 4.6 to USD 71.4.
The findings in 'The Economic Case for Investment in the Well-being of Adolescents in India' report, released on July 25 by the Union Health Ministry alongside PMNCH and WHO India, build on global data. The report claims future investments could boost the Indian economy by an average of 10.1% of annual GDP.
The report projects that an annual investment of USD 33 billion across various sectors could generate returns of USD 476 billion per annum.
