Goa Medical Strike Concludes Successfully

The Goa unit of the Indian Medical Association ended their strike in response to the rape-murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. IMA Goa president Sandesh Chodankar confirmed the strike was successful and that emergency services were maintained to avoid patient inconvenience.

The Goa unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) announced the conclusion of its strike on Sunday, initiated in protest against the rape-murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor in Kolkata on August 9.

IMA Goa president Sandesh Chodankar declared the strike a success, emphasizing that despite the agitation, emergency services remained operational to ensure patient care was not disrupted.

'The 24-hour strike ended at 6am today. Doctors ensured emergency cases were attended to on priority,' he stated. The Goa Association of Resident Doctors (GARD), representing junior and senior residents at Goa Medical College and Hospital, had also participated in the strike from 1pm on Friday to 1pm on Saturday.
