FORDA Suspends Strike Over Trainee Medic's Rape-Murder Case for Two Weeks

FORDA has temporarily suspended its strike after the Supreme Court's appeal, concerning the rape-murder of a trainee medic. The suspension will be reviewed in two weeks. The Court assured safety for the protesting doctors and formed a task force to address their concerns.

After an appeal from the Supreme Court, the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) has temporarily suspended its strike over the rape-murder of a trainee medic in Kolkata. The decision, however, will be reviewed in two weeks.

Earlier, the Supreme Court urged protesting doctors across the nation to return to work, stressing that 'justice and medicine' cannot be halted. The Court assured the necessary directions to ensure the doctors' safety, while also directing that no coercive actions be taken against them.

In light of this, FORDA has asked its members to resume duties from Friday, while stating that this is only a suspension of the strike and not its termination. They will closely monitor the situation at R G Kar Medical College, which incited the protests, and review their stance in two weeks.
