The Bihar government on Tuesday transferred more than 37 acres of land in Darbhanga district to the Union Health Ministry to facilitate the construction of a new AIIMS facility.

With this recent transfer, the state government has now provided a total of 187.44 acres of land for AIIMS-Darbhanga, as confirmed by an official statement.

The entire land required for Bihar's second AIIMS has now been handed over to the Union Health Ministry, following directives from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. State Health Minister Mangal Pandey attended the handover program. The Union Health Ministry had approved the AIIMS-Darbhanga project on July 25, three years after the state first proposed it. Bihar already has an AIIMS facility in Patna.
