Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Tuesday instructed the health secretary to prolong the tenure of junior and senior resident doctors in Delhi government hospitals by three months. This decision aims to avert any disruption in essential health services as new doctors join through a Centralised Committee.
During his visit to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital in Wazirpur, Bharadwaj announced on platform X that the inspection aligns with the Delhi government's mission to sustain world-class healthcare, engage directly with patients, and consult hospital administrators. Concerns were reported about the potential service disruptions due to the onboarding of new doctors.
Accompanied by MLA Rajesh Gupta, the minister gathered direct feedback from patients, who generally expressed satisfaction but mentioned issues like medication unavailability. Bharadwaj instructed hospital officials to ensure adequate stocking of all necessary drugs. Additionally, the minister addressed staffing shortages with the hospital administration, revealing that the issue has been raised with higher authorities and solutions are in progress.
