Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Joint Managing Director, Sangita Reddy, has called for a liberal visa policy to support the growth of medical tourism in India. Speaking on Friday, Reddy highlighted the need for streamlined e-visas to encourage overseas patients to seek treatment in the country.
The initiative aligns with the government's 'Heal in India' program, which aims to boost patient inflow. Competitors like Thailand and Singapore already offer visas on arrival, making them preferred choices for medical tourists, Reddy said, urging the Indian government to simplify its visa processes.
Executive Vice Chairperson, Preetha Reddy, noted the country's advanced healthcare facilities and the potential benefits of improved visa processes. Apollo Hospitals plans significant expansions with an investment of Rs 6,000 crore and the addition of 3,000 beds over the next five years, underscoring its commitment to be a major player in medical tourism.
