A 23-day-old baby girl, abandoned in a Kochi hospital by parents from Jharkhand, is now receiving specialized care, the Kerala government reported on Saturday.

Health Minister Veena George announced a medical board will oversee her treatment. Currently in Ernakulam General Hospital, the infant remains on oxygen, weighing only one kilogram, and has a small head hemorrhage.

Efforts continue under the Women and Child Development Department, which covers treatment expenses and coordinates with the Child Welfare Committee for her future care if her parents do not return.
