Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has praised the significant contributions of the Smrutishesh Madhukarrao Tamgadge Charitable Trust in combating sickle cell disease and thalassemia, particularly within tribal and marginalized groups in Maharashtra's Vidarbha region.
Founded in honor of the late Madhukarrao Tamgadge, the trust furthers his legacy of community upliftment through initiatives led by his son, IPS officer Sandeep Tamgadge. The trust, marking a decade since Madhukarrao's passing, remains committed to healthcare and social welfare.
Collaborating with government entities, the trust's efforts include a large-scale sickle cell screening program, having screened over 11,000 students through more than 100 camps. These initiatives aim to expand into additional districts, ensuring early diagnosis and access to medical care for at-risk populations.
