The Health Minister, Dinesh Gundu Rao, has declared Chikkaballapur as the chosen site for a pilot study aimed at eliminating cervical cancer in Karnataka. Announced during an event in Bengaluru, the programme will be a collaborative effort among several healthcare organizations.
Minister Rao emphasized that the project would not impose a financial burden on Chikkaballapur and could serve as a model for the entire state. With the goal of accelerating efforts towards the 90-70-90 target, the programme focuses on HPV vaccinations, screenings, and treatment.
While the government starts free HPV vaccinations in five districts of Kalyana Karnataka, experts laud the initiative as a historic effort. The HDR Healthcare Foundation has already achieved significant milestones in vaccinating and screening women across Karnataka.
