The anti-vaping advocacy group, Mothers Against Vaping, has made a plea to the Union Health Ministry to enforce an immediate ban on nicotine pouches and gums, citing their growing trend and potential danger among teenagers.
The group, comprising concerned mothers, has reached out with formal submissions to the Union Health Minister and the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) to take urgent action against these products, branding them a potential gateway similar to e-cigarettes.
In its warnings, the group accused multinational tobacco companies of misrepresenting nicotine pouches as a safer option, thereby misleading young consumers. They demand the government investigate these firms and prevent them from exploiting regulatory loopholes to market potentially harmful products.
