Health Funds Misused in Maharashtra: Inquiry Launched

Three individuals are implicated in the unauthorized withdrawal of Rs 1.16 lakh from a health facility's account in Maharashtra's Beed district. The funds, meant to improve the Ishtal sub-health centre's infrastructure, were withdrawn by a health worker. A medical officer and bank manager are also under investigation.

A case has been registered against three individuals for allegedly withdrawing Rs 1.16 lakh allocated for a health facility in Maharashtra's Beed district, authorities disclosed on Friday. The funds, intended to enhance the infrastructure at the Ishtal sub-health centre, had been credited to its bank account.

Subsequently, it was discovered that a health worker had withdrawn the money without the requisite authorization. This prompted the health department to conduct an inquiry and subsequently file a police complaint.

The health worker, along with a medical officer and the manager of the bank branch where the health facility holds an account, have been charged with misappropriating Rs 1.16 lakh, according to an official. The bank official, however, claimed he is being unfairly targeted, insisting that he adhered to all procedures.
