In a significant healthcare initiative, Abhishek Banerjee, TMC national general secretary and MP, launched the second phase of the 'Sebaashray' project on Monday. Spearheading from Maheshtala's Rathtala Maidan, the project aims to run free medical camps across seven constituencies in the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency for two months.
The camps will offer a wide array of diagnostic services, specialist consultations, medicines, and follow-up support at no cost. 'Sebaashray', which began earlier this year, has already garnered praise for benefitting over 12.3 lakh people by providing free consultations, diagnostic tests, and essential medicines, not just locally but throughout West Bengal.
Equipped for comprehensive healthcare, the camps will conduct tests such as blood and serology, USG, ECG, and breast cancer screenings, with reports delivered digitally within two days. Banerjee emphasized the impact of the first phase, citing over 2,500 cataract surgeries and crucial referrals to super-specialty hospitals, ensuring continuous care and successful treatments.
