The Karnataka government has announced a partnership with the Azim Premji Foundation to establish a multi-speciality hospital in Bengaluru. The initiative, which involves an investment of Rs 4,000 crore over five years, aims to offer high-quality medical care to underserved populations, with a focus on organ transplantation.

The agreement, signed in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, sees the Department of Medical Education collaborating with the Foundation for this charitable venture. 1,000 beds will be included in the hospital, three-fourths of which will be provided at zero cost to patients. The remaining beds will be priced comparably to government tertiary hospitals.

This significant development will also enhance medical education and research as stated in a release from the Medical Education Minister's office. With the state providing land on a 99-year lease, the new facility will complement Bengaluru's public health infrastructure, promising advanced tertiary care for all.
