The Kerala Human Rights Commission has taken a significant step to protect medical officers from undue pressure while on VIP duty. On Saturday, the Commission urged the state government to establish guidelines that would allow medical officers to focus on their work without stress.
Justice Alexander Thomas, Chairperson of the Commission, highlighted the need for such guidelines, underscoring recommendations from the police's Special Branch. The emphasis was placed on orchestrating a system whereby District Medical Officers manage a rotational daily roster for VIP-attending doctors.
Further recommendations suggest logistical support, including nearby accommodation and meal provisions for medical staff during VIP assignments. Ensuring the availability of fully equipped ambulances also featured in the directive, aiming to streamline medical operations during VIP events.
