Health experts on Friday emphasized the critical need for early detection and lifestyle transformations to tackle the rising wave of hypertension. The 'Illness to Wellness Conference on Transforming Hypertension Care: Prevention to Wellness' was held ahead of World Hypertension Day 2026.
Union Minister of State for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, noted a concerning surge in hypertension cases among the youth, attributing it to changing lifestyles and diminished focus on physical and mental wellness. He warned that hypertension, a 'silent killer,' predisposes individuals to severe health risks like heart attacks and strokes.
Experts like Dr. Ripen Gupta advocated for regular blood pressure checks and lifestyle interventions such as exercise, sleep, and yoga. At the conference, attendees also explored hypertension's far-reaching impacts, including on expectant mothers, and advocated for policies promoting affordable healthcare solutions.
